I am 44 years old, I have been married twice my first husband i was married to for 14 years and have two wonderful son's. After 14 years of being abuised physical and mental by this man, I realized I need to be a better mother for my boys and a better woman for myself, so I filed for a divorce. Four year I learned my independence and started trusting people again. I support both my boys on my own, and made sure they attended school, because school was very important to me to make sure my boys had an education. I remarried then most wonderful man who has taught me what the true meaning of love between a man and woman is. We have respect, trust and are commited to our realationship and our childrens lives. I have two boys my oldest is now 26, four years ago he was in an auto accident and suffered from massive brain stem damage and a stroke on the left, they told us he would not live, and we need to turn off live support, we decided as a family that if he was meant to live then we would be there for him, he was in a coma for 3 weeks, when he woke he couldnt do anything, My husband now and I decided we would take him home and take care of him, when he came home from the hospital he was in a fetal postion, to this day with alot of hard work and family love, he is now swallowing on his own, eating, sitting, talking again, going to the bathroom on his own and is now learning to walk again. My younger son is now 19 he had mengitis at 13 months of age and lost his hearing, They put him into a deaf school in Fla, but when i moved to WV I enrolled him in a regular school system, they informed me that he would be better off going to the deaf school that was 3 hours from our house for the week and come home on the weekend, I informed them that we are a family I brought him into this world and I would not let someone else raise my child, I went back to the school board and they approve him going to a regular school with an interperter he was the first in this county and now there are 12 deaf kids in our county who attend regular school, and are apart of their familys lives. Both of my boys have graduated from high school with honors, and my youngest attends college and one day my oldest will be going back to finish his 4 years left in medical school with the help of God and family. Starting Jan 2009 I have decided to go back to college myself and study physcology, and work with abuised women and children to let them know that they are not alone that other people have been there and have made a better life for them selves.
